I had a wonderful “Dad” moment yesterday…
The whole family went to the Air and Space Museum complex out at Dulles airport yesterday. We’d walked through pretty much the whole place, with the exception of the area where the post-WWII jet fighters are. Amy had finally given her all and decided to have a seat with Jocelyn while Ethan (on my shoulders) and I went through and looked at all the modern jets.
JUST after we started, he turned his head around and spied something.
Ethan: “Daddy, why is there a squirrel on that plane?”
I turn around, and take a look. “That’s not a squirrel, that’s a skunk.”
Ethan: “Oh. And that’s the FFAAAASSTTTEEESSTTT plane in the WWWOOOORRRRLLLDDDD, isn’t it?”
Me: “Yes, it is. It’s called the ‘Blackbird’, remember?”
Ethan: “Yeah, it’s my favorite plane in the whole wide world!”
Me: “Mine too, Ethan, mine too.”
It was difficult to suppress the tears of joy, but I managed.
